Happy 1st month Baby Francis

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
Today, in the span of what I thought was just weeks, is actually the first month of Francis. I can't seem to fathom he's already a month old!

I can still vividly recall in great detail the memory of us waiting outside the delivery room. It was the time Francis decided that he would like to see the light of the day.

Happy 1st month, Baby Francis. More blessings to you and your parents.

Just a quick update:

Loureese seems to have a connection with her cousin. It's a joy to see whenever she kisses her little cousin's feet. When we ask her to kiss him, her lips even from afar are already pointing towards him.

She will also rub Francis' skin gently if given a chance, but we have to keep an eye on her because her mood will switch faster - from the gentle rub to a painful pinch :)

My babies fascination of escalators

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
Escalators are becoming a fascination to our little one. Seeing them from afar makes her jolt in an uncontrolled excitement. She'll point to them and moves towards their direction while uttering, once again, her incomprehensible language for adults.

We noticed her liking of the escalators a few weeks ago at Central Plaza. I let her experienced how was it stepping on the thing that moves up and down. Her face lightened. Soon enough, the uncontrollable giggles.

And last night she again had the chance to experience her fascination. She tried to move one step up when we were moving up, and one step down whenever we go down. It was fun yet crazy at the same time. One mistake and we're gonna tumbling down to the edge.

And as for additional tricks... she knows how to kiss when you say "kiss". Her dancing prowess and her talent in singing are improving too.

Watch out X-Factor, The Voice, and other similar programs because we're gonna rock it!

Riding on Daddy's Back

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
When I let Loureese to ride on my back last week she let go of a laugh that melted my heart. I sensed instantly that she liked it more than what I anticipated.

Back when I was a child, I too enjoyed riding on the back of my late father. I'll be laughing so hard and, within minutes, would sleep on my father's chest. I so missed those moments and they reminded me of my good old days with him.

Just as I thought she would easily forget that she rode on my back, she did it again three days ago while I was lying on my stomach. At first I thought she was just scratching my back since it was one of the usual things she does first upon waking up. A little while later though, I felt we were slowly sinking into the bed. Overweight?

And because it was her mother's first to see her daughter did just that, she of course didn't let it pass.

A dad's letter to his daughter's first birthday

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
At this very moment on the 1st of July last year, your mother was experiencing excruciating pain. She asked me to hold her hand so we could take a walk. Every step or two - we stopped. She wanted to scream. Her hand grabbing my hand was tight. I could feel her strength. My bones felt like they were being crushed. I know it sounded over the top, but that was exactly how I felt.

Before the sun went down that day a year ago, your mom was uneasy. Fear of what may transpire was evident on her face. My way of cheering her up proved futile. So many things rushed into my mind. So many questions. So many worries.

Around 10 pm that night your mom can't hold it anymore. Her breathing was becoming faster as well. I told her it was time to go to the hospital. She was in "real deal" pain ergo she could barely walk. But she said "yes" anyway.

We arrived at the hospital and was immediately greeted with the staff, and right away escorted your mom to sit on the wheelchair. She declined albeit in pain saying, I wanted to have a short exercise

A little while later your mom was led to the labor room. Every now and then, me and the rest of your godmothers as well as your grandmothers from both sides, took turns in giving your mom words of support and encouragement. We knew she can make it - but of course we can't help but worry. I could see how difficult and painful it was for her. Once again, her hands grabbed me. This time however, the grip was at its tightest.

Every hour during the course of four hours, the doctor checked your mom's cervix. Unfortunately, the opening was small and the doctor advised us it would be impossible for your head to pass through once the pushing begins.

I could see your mom losing her strength and the tedious battle was taking its toll on her. When everything was just too much to handle, your mom asked me to call a doctor to have you delivered through Caesarian section. As much as we, especially her, wanted to have you delivered normally - things didn't go as planned.

Your mom was then transferred from the labor room to the delivery room next door. My request to be admitted inside the room so I could be with your mom was refused for the umpteenth time.  The doctor saw my worried face and advised me to keep my cool. Me and some of your godmothers decided to wait for your mom outside instead.

The operation lasted for an hour. Your mom, as the sedative worked its wonders on her, was lying unconsciously on the bed being pushed by an "orderly" straight to the recovery room. I felt sorry seeing your mom in that state. I felt helpless.

A few hours later your mom emerged as we waited in the room assigned to her. She was already awake but too weak to make movements. She smiled, and that simple smile made me smile back, slowly taking my worries away. Where's Loureese?, she asked. Yes, she was instantly looking for you and wishing for you to be beside her, disregarding her condition. I simply smiled and told her we will see you a bit later just as the doctor had promised.

When you emerged lying on that crib sleeping with occasional movements, oh my, you have no idea how happy so much we were. You have no idea how great an impact it was having you near us. It was heaven. I felt compelled to carry you and lightly hug you as you made little funny sounds from time to time.

Today, as you celebrate your first year being a gift from God to us, we both wish you a happy birthday full of love, hope and promises. May you grow up as the child we want you to be - a child who fears the Lord, obedient to HIS commands, and a loving daughter to her parents.

I love you so much, anak!

Love,

Dad

Me at Seven

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
The little angel we normally call "Loulit" since Thai often interchange "R" with an "L", and "S" with the "T" turned seven months old on the first of this love month. I met her paediatrician two days after the celebration and she was just as happy as I was. She then later asked me if Loureese can already sit without any support. I was like, "NOT YET"! And continued, "Is that normal?" I was relieved when she said it was normal and there's nothing to worry about.

She also advised me that we can feed Loureese foods we normally eat like rice, soup and fruits. As expected everything was just as delicious for her. And just before the night of the celebration ended, we bought a chocolate cake for her with a number seven candle on top. Flashes of pictures here and there later followed.

Sleeping at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
More than five hours of travelling is too much for a six month old baby. Instead of sleeping soundly from 12 midnight onwards, she was with us on the bus bound for Bangkok. The Epassport currently administered by the Philippine Embassy probably has its own benefits. But to us with a baby who live way too far from the capital, going to the embassy is not really that appealing. It says on their website that babies should be present during the application regardless of their age. Difficult times, eh?

The first thing we did when we arrive (disregarding changing of diapers and feeding lol) was paying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a visit in Chaengwattana. We had Loureese's birth certificate translated from Thai to English and costs us around a thousand baht. We waited like two or three hours and whilst waiting, Baby Loureese and Baby Leanne can't help but visit the dreamland. They were so tired the noises around seem like humming birds.

Look at this poor little thing...Really dead tired from the trip.

1st Grader

Edit Posted by Admin with No comments
Loureese is going to the Philippines for the first time in summer. But the thing is, she doesn't have a passport yet. According to the website of the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, children who are born in Thailand to Filipino parents should first report the baby's birth before they can apply for a passport. One of the requirements of reporting the child's birth is a colour ID picture. I failed to understand or perhaps I made a mistake reading the instructions on their website. Instead of only 1, my mind was occupied that 4 ID pictures were needed.
So after the work on Thursday last week, we headed to Topland Plaza to have her ID taken. Since making her smile is not so difficult any more, I knew for a fact that it will be easier to have a smiling shot. After 15 minutes, here's what we got. A six month old baby that looks so mature. She looks more like a first grader than a baby who still walk on all fours.
